About

I am a researcher and policy analyst interested in Chinese media, foreign policy and public diplomacy of the People’s Republic of China, as well as ideology in post-Mao China. I also take a close interest in Greater China politics, primarily developments in Hong Kong and Taiwan as they relate to the PRC.

A German citizen, I have spent the past fifteen years of my life going back and forth between Germany, the United States, and Greater China. After receiving my PhD degree in Chinese Studies from the University of Heidelberg in 2013, I spent a year as an An Wang Postdoctoral Fellow at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University and another year as a postdoctoral researcher at the Cheng Shewo Institute for Chinese Journalism in Taipei, Taiwan. Since January 2016, I have been a researcher at the Mercator Institute for China Studies in Berlin.
